Relaxed technique exchange in free-flow Ving Tsun (wing chun) Chi Sao

Chi Sao is a more advanced exercise in the Ving Tsun (wing chun) Kung Fu system. Basic training begins with stationary horse and a simpler set of hand movements.

Black shirt does two Lop Dar; Gold shirt counters second Lop Dar with a Lop Dar; Black shirt uses Biu Gee energy to recover centerline with a Pak-Tan Sao to Dim Jerm while stepping in with horse, following with a second Dim Jerm palm strike.

In the Moy Tung lineage, we practice the Chi Sao (Sticking Hands) exercise with relaxed energy, using horse stances, while applying and studying centerline form.

In Chi Sao, we hit to the chest; it's safer than the face, while training good accuracy and control. Hitting and getting hit in the chest is also good physical conditioning. It promotes relaxation and Kung Fu understanding for both training partners. And it develops reflexes and abilities useful for self-defense, such as staying on your feet, moving forward, blocking and striking simultaneously.
