Lop Sao exercise - grabbing & trapping hands

Ving Tsun (wing chun) Kung Fu’s Lop Sao (grabbing & trapping hands) is a basic level exercise (3rd month or so, after Pak Sao and Pak Dar), as practiced in the Moy Tung lineage. The level of exercise in this video includes techniques and counters (e.g. Lop Dar and Tan Dar) which are introduced in the second or third month of Lop Sao training.

Lop Sao exercise trains basic principles such as Centerline/facing, relaxation and horse stance, as well as a variety of single and two-hand simultaneous attack-and-defense techniques, some of which are shown in this video.

In this video, those who are familiar with how Ving Tsun (wing chun) Kung Fu is practiced in the Moy Yat lineage will notice Black shirt is playing the Sihing role (initiating techniques) and Gold shirt is playing the Sidai role (responding to techniques). In a Ving Tsun school, all students will practice and study in either role, depending on the context.
