Ving Tsun (wing chun) Bong Sao technique elbow position

When the Bong Sao elbow is on the ‘gates’ formed by the shoulders in Ving Tsun (wing chun) Kung Fu’s Centerline principle, less energy/strength is required to hold the technique elbow in place, in Chi Sao or in a self-defense situation. The line of force goes directly back into the shoulder, and the centerline structure of the body can absorb force/pressure and send it down into the ground, using form instead of strength.
In normal times, these students would be practicing wrist-to-wrist; working with and against a training partner’s energy is useful for Kung Fu development. During Coronavirus conditions, we can still practice details of form, timing, relaxation, etc. while maintaining social distancing.
